PTI’s Mysterious Denial: A Timely Misdirection or a Planted Distraction?

Yesterday morning, several newspapers reported that audience members of Kunal Kamra’s show Naya Bharat were served notices to appear before the police and join the investigation.

The story was picked up by web portals and social media, sparking widespread outrage. I even drew a cartoon on it for a publication.

By 10-10:30 PM, just as the publication was about to go to press, I received a call informing me that the police had denied the story. A quick internet search showed that Hindustan Times had carried a PTI report quoting an unnamed senior police officer denying the claims.
